SA Artists for HIV/Aids Awareness

Posted on 18 January 2010 at 00:26 by Ace_of_Hearts
22 January 10 - 24 January 10 Oude Libertas, Stellenbosch
The Oude Libertas will be ringing with the sounds of 'symphonic gospel' from 22 to 24 January 2010. Various artists, including Ladysmith Black Mambazo and the Africa Centre for HIV/Aids Management's Jimmie Earl Perry, will be among the performers accompanied by an international church group's symphony orchestra and choir.
The three-day performance follows shortly on the heels of the fifth World Aids Day concert hosted by the Africa Centre and produced by Jimmie Earl Perry, Director of its Educational Theatre and Creative Arts Program. A day after the concert, the Washington Times published an article in which the annual event was given extensive mention along with a message from Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu encouraging people not to expose themselves to HIV/Aids and not stigmatize others with the virus or disease.
The concert starts at 20:15 on the Friday and Saturday and at 18:30 on the Sunday. Ticket prices are available at the Oude Libertas ticket office.
Cost: R140 - R160 cover charge
